Welcome to the e-portfolio website @ BTC. On this site you will find more information about the e-portfolio assessment. It is expected that BTC pre-service teachers (B.Ed and PGDE) will complete a portfolio demonstrating achievement of teacher outcomes identified in the 9 - BTC competencies. In assembling your e-portfolio, you will also be meeting one of the critical standards required of all beginning teachers - i.e using ICT in teaching and learning! You are therefore be expected to accomplish the following:
- demonstrate an understanding of the nine (9) competencies that inform teacher preparation @ BTC;
- clearly articulate a statement of your philosophy of teaching as it has emerged during your teacher preparation;
- select artifacts that demonstrates achievement of the nine (9) BTC Teacher Competencies;
- utilize available digital tools to make the portfolio interactive;
- present your e-portfolio to your TP supervisor and your academic supervisor throughout your study period at BTC; and
- continue to develop your portfolio as a beginning teacher.
A few changes have been made since the last academic year (2009-2010), with the major changes including:
- A shift from assessing 12 competencies to 9 competencies (please read more on the competencies link for more details);
- Assessment of only 3-4 competencies a year for B.Ed students and 4-5 a semester for PGDE students;
- Formal presentation of what you have achieved so far, during the TP seminar. Your advisor will be invited to participate, and your TP coordinator and seminar peers will be the primary to provide you the necessary feedback; and
- A template has been developed to make the reflections more consistent and focused on the goal i.e reflecting on achievement of specific competencies and selecting the very best pieces of evidence from your courses and practicum experiences.
